Volero defeated Eczacibasi in five sets and reached bronze medal

Volero Zurich played under pressure in their bronze medal finish, following their 3:2 (25:22, 25:15, 22:25, 23:25, 15:12) win over Eczacibasi Istanbul in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Kobe 2017.

Volero, of Nataliya Mammadova, Foluke Akinradewo, Alesia Rykhliuk, Josefa Fabiola, Mariana Paraiba, Bojana Zivkovic, Ana Antonijevic, Dobriana Rabadzhieva, Silvija Popovic, Irina Malkova, Kenia Carcaces and Ekaterina Orlova, coached by Zoran Terzic and Zeljko Bulatovic, played good in the crucial moments of the match and finished the competition with bronze medal.

Rykhliuk topped all scorers with 25 points, then Carcaces and Foluke Akinradewo had 16 points apiece to fuel the Volero Zurich victory. Head coach of Volero Zoran Terzic was satisfied after the match - “It was a good game,” Terzic said. “Every season this competition gets stronger. I am satisfied to get a medal. We finally played well under pressure. This is the first medal for me in this competition. I hope to get some more in the future.”

Natalya Mammadova and Foluke Akinradewo felt proud to end the season with a medal. “This was an important win for our club,” Mammadova said. “It was good to finish the season with a positive feeling. I’m happy to get a medal and end the season like this.” “I’m proud of our team,” Mammadova said. “It has been a tough season. Our opponents came back fighting hard after the first two sets.”
